Girls volleyball bounces back from first loss

The Emmaus High School girls volleyball bounced back from its first loss of the season to win its next match, both in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference.

The Hornets lost in straight sets at home to Nazareth last Tuesday night, but answered that two nights later with a straight set sweep over Dieruff on Thursday.

Against the Blue Eagles, Emmaus fell by scores of 17-25, 23-25, 13-25. Fiona Answini led the attack with seven kills and paced the defense as well with 11 digs. Olivia Yurasits finished with five kills, two blocks and two digs. Rosalia Landino tallied four kills, three digs and two blocks. Both Emma Nesfeder and Faith Brown recorded three kills with the former adding 11 digs and nine assists and the latter contributing two blocks, two digs and one assist. Ashley Hoppes had eight assists and six digs, Andraya Flowers notched four digs, one kill and one block, Leah Stack totaled five digs and Keira Martino added four digs and one assist.

Stats from the Dieruff match were not made available at the time of print.

Emmaus, which is now 3-1 overall and 3-1 in the conference, has a couple of road matches coming up. The Hornets are at Central Catholic on Wednesday and then at Liberty Friday before traveling to take on Pocono Mountain East next Tuesday.
