Two men convicted in death of Lower Macungie Township man
Lehigh County District Attorney Gavin P. Holihan as announced two Allentown men have been convicted of homicide in a deadly shooting that happened in 2025. David Isiah Rivera, 27 and Pedro Junior Paulino, 37, were convicted of third-degree homicide in the death of Ivan Diaz Jr., 32, of Lower Macungie Township, Feb. 2of that year.
Three other people also were shot.
“Both men were also convicted of three counts each of attempted murder and three counts each of aggravated assault,” according to the press release.
The trial started Sept. 14. Sentencing is scheduled Nov. 9.
Social media helped police focus on Rivera and Paulino. Just after 4 a.m. Feb. 2, 2025, Allentown Police were called to the BKK Lounge, an after-hours club, 1500 Union Blvd., for reports of a shooting with multiple victims.
Four people, one woman and three men, including Diaz, were shot.
Diaz died from multiple gunshot wounds and his death was ruled a homicide by Lehigh County Coroner Daniel Buglio.
Witnesses told police of an argument inside the club.
Club security stepped in to break up the argument. Paulino and Rivera got handguns from their car.
“Paulino was identified on video as firing a handgun in the direction of the victims. Rivera also produced a handgun from his sweatshirt pocket and also fired that weapon at multiple victims,” according to the press release.
Police found two different caliber shell casings at the scene.
Paulino and Rivera were identified as the shooters. Both men were identified through distinctive clothing and tattoos as well as social media posts, according to authorities.
Rivera faces a mandatory life sentence without parole. A sentence of at least 30 additional years in state prison is also possible.
Paulino faces a possible sentence of 50 to 100 years in state prison.
