The 12th annual Kempton Antique Show will be held 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 17 at the Kempton Community Center, 83 Community Center Drive, Kempton.

The show is sponsored by the Antique Dealers Association of Berks County (ADABC) and features 50 dealers offering a wide range of antiques and collectibles, something for every taste and budget.

Berks County has long been a source of antiques for dealers, collectors and decorators from all over the country.

ADABC traces its roots to 1948 and held its first antique show in 1952.

The organization was chartered as a nonprofit in 1954 and has promoted annual antique shows at venues including the Goodwill Ballroom, Abe Lincoln Hotel, Reading Motor Inn, Stokesay Castle, River Edge, Sheraton, Scottish Rite Temple, Leesport Farmers Market and now Kempton.

The organization moved its show to Kempton in 2014 because of the area’s accessibility to residents of the Lehigh Valley, New Jersey and neighboring counties.

The location is near Hawk Mountain Sanctuary, the Wanamaker Kempton and Southern Railroad and Wanamaker’s General Store.

The show also coincides with Albany Arts Fest at the Albany Township Historical Society.

For more than 50 years, the ADABC show featured a strong Pennsylvania Dutch influence.

Today, dealers participate from neighboring counties and states, offering items ranging from 18th-century antiques to modernism.

Merchandise includes Americana, Asian antiques, holiday items, estate jewelry, sporting memorabilia, artwork, textiles, furniture, glassware, pottery, advertising items, toys and folk art.

Organizers say buyers can shop with confidence because exhibitors are reputable dealers who welcome questions and enjoy sharing their knowledge.

The event also encourages younger enthusiasts to explore collecting.

Organizers promote antique buying as a way to support local family businesses and reuse existing goods.

They note that antiques and vintage items are already in circulation, reducing the need for new manufacturing and imports.

According to the group, prices on antique furnishings remain affordable, making it a good time to buy.
