State Rep. Zach Mako, R-183rd, announced Sept. 15 he helped secure more than $2.5 million in Local Share Account grants from the Commonwealth Financing Authority for projects in his district. North Catasauqua will receive $350,000 to assist with the purchase of a new firetruck.

Act 71 of 2004 provides for the distribution of LSA gaming revenues through the CFA to support projects of public interest within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

“I’m pleased to partner with Sens. Nick Miller and Jarrett Coleman to secure funding for these important projects,” Mako said. “These grants will help support the repair and replacement of vital infrastructure and equipment municipalities and organizations depend on to serve our communities. I’m proud to help pursue this funding, which will make it possible to move these critical projects forward — projects that would have been much more difficult to complete without this support.”

Additional funding includes $199,096 to purchase and install a backup generator to power three municipal buildings in Bath Borough; $300,000 to purchase 45 portable and 20 mobile radios for Lehigh Township municipal and emergency service use; $925,119 to extend the water main for the proposed interconnection with Lehigh Township Municipal Authority from the city of Bethlehem; $264,470 to purchase a street sweeper for Northampton Borough; $75,000 to assist with the purchase of two new patrol vehicles for the Northampton Borough Police Department; $100,000 to assist with the purchase of a new dump truck for the Walnutport Borough Public Works Department; $41,472 to purchase new police equipment including Tasers, vehicle cameras and body cameras for Walnutport Borough; $100,000 for Lehigh Valley Economic Investment Corporation to rehabilitate the Orchard Hills campus wastewater treatment facility of KidsPeace in North Whitehall Township; $100,000 to construct a salt shed in Lowhill Township; and $100,000 to assist with the purchase of a single-axle dump truck and accessories for North Whitehall Township.

The 183rd House District includes North Catasauqua, Northampton, Bath and Walnutport boroughs and Allen, East Allen, Lehigh and Moore (part) townships in Northampton County. It also consists of Lowhill and North Whitehall townships and Slatington Borough in Lehigh County.
