MAMA’S MUSINGS - Returning to work

I have been off from work for almost two weeks. It was not my choice. Human Resources was concerned about my nerve damage. I saw my doctor this week, and he cleared me to return. I feel stronger. The exercises from physical therapy are helping. Of course, then I caught a cold from my kids. Just now, I’m glad I didn’t have to go in.

It will be fun going back. I’ve missed seeing everyone. Hopefully all will go well.

I’ve spent the time off exercising, doing house stuff and the ordinary things which after a while become monotonous. In simpler words, I’m getting bored.

Then comes hockey season. Ironically, my ex has nerve damage in both hands. He said if there is a Saturday night game, he won’t do his Sunday with my youngest. Ugh. Whatever. I will believe it when it happens.

I do use a cane for pavements because sidewalks and pavements are hideously uneven, particularly the brick-lined sidewalk in the city. I filled out a survey at my youngest son’s school open house, and my sole complaint was the sidewalks.

I started a new liver medicine. Now I’ve stopped it, under doctor’s orders. It was causing dizzy spells. Just what I needed on top of the nerve damage.

Dizziness was not even listed as a side effect, yet it seems to be a common issue with this class of medicines.

Thanks but no thanks. A few lowered liver numbers is not a good trade off.

My next chore is groceries. Ugh. Time to write a list and hope it fits my budget. Inflation sucks. So I’m extra happy to be returning to work.
