Paul R. Williams, 61, of Dresher, has been charged in connection with an Aug. 28 shooting in Freemansburg Borough.

Northampton County District Attorney Stephen G. Baratta is a statement said shortly after 4 p.m., Freemansburg police were dispatched to 431 Clearfield Street on a report of shots fired. The dispatch included a description of the shooter. On arrival, officers encountered the adult male victim suffering a gunshot wound to the wrist area. He was treated on scene and then transported to St. Luke’s Hospital Anderson Campus for treatment.

Police determined that up to nine gunshots were fired at the victim.

Police obtained surveillance footage to identify the shooter and a silver vehicle connected to the shooter, identified as Paul R. Williams, who was taken into custody at his home in Dresher.

Williams was preliminarily arraigned before a magisterial district judge on the charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault, and related lesser charges. Bail was set at $1 million and he was committed to

Northampton County Prison, unable to post bail.

The investigation is being handled by the Freemansburg Borough Police Department. From the outset, the department received vital assistance from the City of Bethlehem and Bethlehem Township police. The Pennsylvania State Police assisted by processing the crime scene. The Montgomery County Emergency Response Team assisted with the arrest of Williams at his home. Upper Dublin Police Department assisted with additional investigation, including a search of the Dresher home and vehicle. The Office of the District Attorney provided ongoing assistance from the outset of the investigation.
