L.V. Active Life offers a variety of activities and classes
Lehigh Valley Active Life, 1633 W. Elm St., Allentown, is offering the following dances 7-10 p.m. in the Trexler Room. The per person fee includes light refreshments.

The following dance classes are scheduled:
•Sept. 14, 21, 28: “Line Dance” led by instructor Linda Peters, 12:30 p.m. Students must have line dance experience. You will learn the newest, most popular line dances as well as some of the classics.
•Sept. 14, 21, 28: “Introduction to Line Dance” led by instructor Linda Peters, 1:45 p.m. Students learn the basic steps and proper technique with fun, easy dances to all genres of music. No experience needed.
The following exercise classes are scheduled:
•Sept. 11, 18, 25: “Tai Chi for Balance,” led by instructor Bob Donnelly (Pai Ma Shen), 10:30 a.m. Tai Chi is a holistic exercise that helps reduce stress and promote physical well-being. Participants use slow flowing movement to coordinate breath and enhance strength, balance and calmness.
•Sept. 11, 14, 18, 21, 25, 28: “Fit Circuit” led by instructor Sara Mercer, 12:30 p.m. This low impact circuit style class, featuring upbeat choreography mixed with strength training, is a great overall cardio workout.
•Sept. 14, 21, 28: “Barre” led by instructor Michele Fisher, 10:15 a.m. A low impact toning class that blends the principles of Pilates, yoga, strength training and ballet to activate your entire body. Focus on proper body alignment, balance, stability and flexibility and strength. The class targets hips, glutes, abs and arms. Standing and floor work and the ballet barre is used for some portions of class, but this is not a dance class.
•Sept. 14, 16, 21, 23, 28, 30: “Zumba” led by instructor Grace Conti, 9:30 a.m. Dancers and non-dancers will enjoy this Latin inspired, dance fitness class, which is designed for seniors.
•Sept. 10, 15, 17, 22, 24, 29: “Zumba” led by instructor Ed Nickels, 9 a.m. Dancers and non-dancers will enjoy this Latin inspired dance fitness class, which is designed for seniors.
•Sept. 10, 17, 24: “Silver Warrior” led by instructor Rob Comins, 9 a.m. This class is structured to help improve balance, cognitive functions, coordination, endurance, strength and relive stress.
•Sept. 15, 22, 29: “Tai Chi Qigong” led by instructor Alice Perry, 2:10 p.m. Very beginner, friendly, meditative and peaceful. The class consists of two sets of 18 movements.
•Sept. 10, 17, 24: “Yi Jin Jing” led by instructor Alice Perry, 2:10 p.m. Improve your range of motion and mental suppleness with these flowing sets of moves known as Yi Jin Jing, which translates to “the muscles, tendon, ligament and bone changing method.” Classes are beginner friendly because the movements are simple, flowing and easy to follow; each will include a mix of standing, walking, seated and reclining sequences.
•Sept. 16, 23, 30: “Wild Card Wednesday” led by instructor Michele Fisher, 4:30 p.m. This dynamic senior exercise class is designed to keep participants engaged, energized and motivated by offering a new experience every week. Each session features a different theme of workout style, ensuring that no two classes are alike.
Creative arts classes include:
•Sept. 14, 16, 21, 23, 28, 30: Arts and Crafts Group led by instructor Trisha Baker, 9 to 11 a.m. Enjoy working with your hands and keeping those fingers nimble.
•Sept. 9, 11, 16, 18, 23, 25, 30: “Art For Everyone” led by instructor Suzanne Bauder, noon. Both new and advanced students are welcome. Whatever medium you choose, help is available.
•Sept. 10, 17, 24: “Knit and Chat” Stop in, work on your own projects, knit, crochet or embroider, 9 a.m. Chat about your work or any other subjects and enjoy the conversation.
•Sept. 14, 21, 28: “Drawing” led by instructor Judy Peters, 9:30 a.m. Learn how to draw with pencils. An introduction to composition, outlining and shading.
•Sept. 15, 22, 29: “Ceramics” led by instructor Bonny Batman, 9 a.m. Come join our fun ceramics ongoing classes. Price includes paints.
Special interest groups include:
•Sept. 10, 17, 24: “Current Events Informal Discussion Group” moderated by David M. Bell, 2 p.m. A place to express your opinions and listen to others. Includes world, national, state and local topics. All are welcome.
•Sept. 11, 18, 25: “Life Sharing Discussion Group,” 1 p.m. We are an informal group that meets to discuss our lives in general in an atmosphere of mutual respect.
•Sept. 10, 17, 24: “Photography Composition Basics,” 12:30 p.m. Improve your photography using your cellphone or any camera.
•Sept. 10, 17, 24: “Poetry Appreciation,” 2 p.m. For those who appreciate poetry.
•Sept. 23, 30: “Coping Skills” led by Brenda Mason, MSW, MSS/MLSP, 10 a.m. Learn how to develop positive coping skills. An open discussion group where everyone is welcome.
