Salisbury golfers go 2-1 through first three matches

The Salisbury High School golf team opened the 2026 season with wins in its first two matches before running into one of the Colonial League’s perennial contenders and suffering its first loss of the season.

Salisbury (2-1) started the season with a win over Lehighton last Monday, Aug. 17, then beat Pen Argyl a day later, 457-480. The Falcons traveled to Green Pond to face Notre Dame Monday and fell 377-427.

In the win over Pen Argyl, Chase Yakaitis shot 78 to lead the team and earn medalist honors at the match. Markus Jones carded and 85 for Salisbury with Dom Nimeh (94), Casey Wells (96) and Garrett Leiner (104) making up the rest of the team score for the match, which was played at Riverview Golf Course.

In the loss to Notre Dame, the Crusaders’ Andrew Swercheck shot 71 for the low round of the match and his team had five players at 77 or lower.

Yakaitis shot 75 for Salisbury with teammates Jackson Skeans (81), Jones (82), Logan Kao (91) and PJ Campbell (98) rounding out the Falcons’ team score.
