The Parkland golf team won two matches last week and remained atop the East Penn Conference standings and District 11 Class 3A rankings.

Parkland (11-1) beat Stroudsburg 374-418 last Tuesday, Aug. 25.

Charlie Gold fired a 2-under par 69 at Twin Lakes to lead the host Trojans. Ryan Posocco (72), Carter Willis (76), Chase Klever (78), Jacob Rapp (79) and Matthew Torres (79) all broke 80 in the match for Parkland.

The Mountaineers were led by Gael Ramirez with an 81.

A day later the Trojans beat Freedom 379-402 at Bethlehem Municipal. Gold (72) and Torres (72) shot one-over par in the match with teammates Willis (77), Ryan Posocco (78) and Jake Posocco (80) making up the rest of Parkland’s team score.

The Trojans are 10-1 in EPC matches and held first place heading into this week. Emmaus (9-2), Liberty (9-2), Nazareth (9-2) and Pocono Mountain East (6-2) are all just behind in the league standings.

Parkland has four league matches remaining and a Sept. 10 meeting with Emmaus will likely have a large impact on the final league standings and district rankings.

Parkland will also play a pair of nonleague matches against two of the better teams in the Colonial League this season. Those will be played Sept. 15 (vs. Notre Dame of Green Pond) and Sept. 16 (at Northwestern Lehigh at Olde Homestead).

The Trojans also lead the District rankings. Southern Lehigh (8-1), which Parkland beat 378-375 back on Aug. 21, is second, followed by Nazareth and Blue Mountain (7-1).

The top four finishers in the rankings earn a place in the team championships.
