Travelers Protective Association Post L President Donald Schwartz and his spouse, Diane, the group’s community chair, hosted the Post’s annual picnic Aug. 30 at their home in East Allen Township. About a dozen TPA members attended the relaxed, jovial affair.

The gathering included a wide array of picnic food, baked goods and refreshments.

There was recognition of two TPA members who celebrated their 50th anniversary. The 50-year service pins were awarded. There is 100 aggregate years of service to the TPA between the two 2026 awardees. Donald Schwartz presented the pins to Richard Krasley, of Salisbury Township, and Gene Hoffman, of Slatington.

The group has held its annual summer gathering for many years, as noted by Patricia Palencar, TPA Post L secretary.

Friendship, fellowship, fun and goodwill were all in abundance at the picnic gathering. There was a genuine sense of togetherness among the attendees who, by virtue of their membership in the TPA, understand the importance of providing service to others. The longevity of members’ service is a testament to the quality and dedication of the members to the TPA’s mission.

The TPA’s goals are to lead the charge for societal changes that protect the health, safety and well-being of children. The TPA focus is on aiding people, particularly children, with hearing challenges and needs. The TPA’s mission is “for the express purpose of helping those in need.”

The organization focuses on four core strategic pillars of championing hearing inclusion by providing financial aid to deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals through the TPA Hearing Trust, fighting for safer homes and communities via child safety and travel safety initiatives, providing accessible and affordable supplemental accident insurance to its members and building communities through social connection and local volunteer service activities.
