Registration is open for Bike Broad, a brand-new, free community event that will transform Broad Street into a car-free space for people to walk, bike, roll and have fun. Presented by CAT — Coalition for Appropriate Transportation in partnership with the City of Bethlehem, the inaugural event will take place Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, at 9 a.m.-noon.

Participants of all ages and abilities are invited to experience Broad Street without motor vehicle traffic as they walk, bike, or roll from the Bethlehem Rose Garden to Downtown Bethlehem (bikes turn around at CAT; walkers turn around at Main Street) before returning to the Rose Garden for a community festival featuring music, food vendors, local businesses, community organizations and the Bethlehem Rose Garden Farmers’ Market.

Bike Broad celebrates active transportation and Bethlehem’s Complete Streets vision by transforming Broad Street into a welcoming, car-free space where people can walk, bike, roll, and connect while experiencing firsthand the future of the corridor, including protected bicycle lanes, traffic-calming measures, and safer pedestrian crossings.

William Reynolds. “By opening Broad Street to people instead of traffic, we’re creating an opportunity for residents and families to experience our city in a new way while highlighting the importance of safer streets, healthy neighborhoods, and strong local partnerships. We’re proud to support an event that brings our community together and celebrates the future of transportation in Bethlehem.”

The inaugural event has already received strong community support from sponsors like PPL Foundation, Piscitello Law, Blue Zones Bethlehem, Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor, THE LINK Trail Network, Working Dog Press, and Aardvark Sports Shop.

Organizers hope Bike Broad becomes an annual tradition that celebrates community, healthy living, sustainability, and safe streets throughout the Lehigh Valley.
