Upper Macungie Twp offering fitness programs for kids, teens, adults

Upper Macungie Township will be offering a Zumba Gold fall session for teens and adults led by instructor, Donna Barats 9-10 a.m. on Fridays Sept. 18 to Oct. 23 at the Community Lifestyle Center.
Zumba Gold is a modified, lower-intensity version of the original Zumba class.
It is designed for beginners, active older adults, and those who are new to exercise.
The program focuses on cardiovascular health, balance, strength, and flexibility through easy-to-follow choreography and upbeat music.
No prior experience needed and beginner friendly.
Zumba Fall I will take place on Mondays 6-7 p.m. Sept. 21 through Oct. 26 at the Jaindl Elementary School Gymnasium, 1051 Weilers Road, Breinigsville.
Get ready for a fun, energizing workout that blends dance and fitness into one uplifting class!
This Zumba session features easy-to-follow moves set to upbeat music, designed to boost your energy, confidence, and mood. Perfect for all fitness levels — come dance, sweat, and feel strong!
The township in partnership with Lehigh Valley Martial Arts Trexlertown will be offering a free Intro to Karate Workshop for kids ages 5 and older noon to 1 p.m. Sept. 19 at 7150 Hamilton Blvd., Trexlertown.
No prior experience necessary.
Lehigh Valley Health Network in partnership with the township will be offering a total body conditioning program for all fitness levels from 11 a.m.- noon on Mondays beginning Sept. 14.
Total Body Conditioning is a 60-minute, fast-paced full-body strength and cardio class designed to improve everyday movement, muscular endurance, and core stability.
Mighty Kicks Youth Soccer will hold its fall session on Wednesdays Sept. 16 through Oct. 14.
Mighty Kicks is the Premier introductory soccer option for children aged 2-8 years old.
This program is designed to build motor skills, life skills, self-confidence, and basic soccer techniques.
All classes will be held on the turf at the Community Lifestyle Center.
Class times by age group are: 5-5:30 p.m. 2-year-olds, 5:40-6:20 p.m. 3-4-year-olds, 6:30-7:10 p.m. 5-6-year-olds, 7:20-8 p.m. 7-8-year-olds.
The township’s Parents Night Out event will take place on Sept. 4. Enjoy a night off while the kids have a night of fun! Drop your kids off at the Community Center from 5-8 p.m. for games on the turf or basketball court, followed by pizza and a movie.
Activities will be led by the Elementary EnerGym instructors, Kyle Creyer, a fourth-grade teacher at Veterans Elementary School, and Dr. Dietz, a second-grade teacher at East Penn School District.
Wildlands Conservancy will be hosting DIY Owl Boxes 5:30 p.m. Sept. 18 at the Community Lifestyle Center.
Learn about one of Wildlands Conservancy’s resident owls!
Participants will build and decorate their own owl boxes to use in their own backyards.
This event is perfect for kids, families, and nature lovers of all ages.
The Grub and Groove Food Truck Festival will take place every Thursday from 5-8 p.m. through Sept. 24 at Grange Park, 360 Grange Road.
Come and enjoy various food trucks and musical offerings.
Food trucks will meet by Pavilion No. 1 at Grange Park.
Concerts in the Park series running through October at Grange Park, 360 Grange Road, takes place 7:30 p.m. on the last Saturday of each month unless otherwise noted.
Each concert will showcase at least two live performances featuring a variety of musical styles and local talent.
Admission is free.
Food and drink vendors will be on site to keep you refreshed and satisfied.

St. John’s Lutheran Church, 1028 Church St, Fogelsville, will be hosting its next community free dinner at the church from 5 p.m. while supplies last on Sept. 18.

They will also be holding their fall basket social 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Oct. 3.
Preview night will take place 6-8 p.m. Oct. 2.
Tickets may be purchased/placed both days, take-out food items will be available only on Oct. 3.
Winners will be drawn at the end of the event and contacted by phone.

Morgenland Church, 3120 Weidasville Road, Orefield, (Leather Corner Post), will hold its annual fall picnic 4-8 p.m. Sept. 26. The rain date is 2-6 p.m. Sept. 27.
There will be live music by “Midnight Special” from 5-8 p.m.
They will also have great food, baked goods, basket raffle and a cake walk.
The church will be accepting orders until Oct. 4 for their hoagie sale.
Options available are regular Italian with everything or no peppers, no onions with peppers, no onions or peppers, ham and cheese; no onions or peppers, turkey; no onions or peppers, roast beef; no onions or peppers, tuna and veggie.
Ingredients supplied by Thomson’s Meat Market, Walnutport.
Hoagie pickup will take place 4-6 p.m. Oct. 13.

The meal will include half a chicken, baked potato, applesauce and roll.
They will also be selling apple dumpling with or without syrup.

Ziegels Union Church, 9990 Ziegels Church Road, Breinigsville, will be offering a Slate Painting class 6-8 p.m. Sept. 30.
Paint either a “Joy” stencil or your own creative masterpiece that you can hang.
All supplies and instructions will be provided.
There is a cost for the class.

Zions Union Church Maxatawny, 329 Church Road, Kutztown, will be holding its Apple Dumpling Festival 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 10.
The church has filled its craft spaces already and secured The Perk-up Truck, and Top of the Hill Grill.
They are seeking gift baskets/items for the basket raffle, and donations of desserts to sell at the dessert table.
There are order forms for dumplings available in the Gathering Area if you would like to ask friends, neighbors, and coworkers to order.
The deadline to preorder is Oct. 4.

The church will be having a chili contest from 9-11 a.m. in conjunction with the Apple Dumpling Festival.
Participants are asked to provide approximately 2 gallons of chili.
