Anna Marie Schanta, 85, of Whitehall, died Aug. 27, 2026, at Phoebe Richland. She was the wife of the late Franz Schanta for 30 years.

Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Tameler) Wechsler.

She worked for many years as a secretary for Southern Lehigh School District and the former Christ the King School.

She was a longtime member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Coplay.

She sang with many groups over the years, including the church choir, Coplay Saengerbund and Emil Schanta Band.

She is survived by two daughters, Maria and husband Willard Thomas Jr. and Elizabeth and husband Kevin Moralis; a brother, William Wechsler; a sister, Catherine and husband Emil Schanta Jr.; grandchildren, Gabrielle and Joseph Thomas; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Francis, John and Robert Wechsler; and her companion, Joseph Tiwold.

There will be a calling time 9:30-10:30 a.m. Sept. 3 at the church, 4 S. Fifth St., Coplay, 18037, followed by a Mass of Christian burial 10:30 a.m.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the church.
