An Allentown man faces felony charges in a sexual assault in Lower Macungie Township in March in which the teenage victim had to undergo surgery for her injuries, according to a press release from the office of the Lehigh County District Attorney.

Javier Santos-Rivera, 41, was charged Aug. 19 with “felony charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated assault — attempts to cause serious bodily injury or causes injury with extreme indifference and sexual assault; and misdemeanor charges of simple assault, indecent assault without consent of other and intimidate witness or victim — refrain from report,” according to a press release dated Aug. 24.

Authorities outlined the case as follows:

At approximately 7:17 a.m. March 21, Pennsylvania State Police investigators were called to a hospital for a 19-year-old female concerning a sexual assault at a hotel in Lower Macungie Township.

Investigators determined a private vehicle registered to Santos-Rivera was used to drop off the female at the hospital’s emergency room entrance.

“The victim told investigators she had a relationship with Santos-Rivera and the day of the sexual assault they went out to dinner before returning to the Lower Macungie Township hotel room,” according to authorities.

Santos-Rivera allegedly “began to bite the victim in her genitals” during consensual sex.

“The victim told police she was screaming out in pain and told Santos-Rivera to stop, but he continued for several minutes and restrained her with his wrists and waist,” according to the press release.

“The victim was injured so severely after the attack, she could not walk nor put on her clothes due to swelling and pain due to the injuries she suffered,” the release continued.

“She said the defendant put his coat on her and carried her to his car and dropped her off at the hospital.”

Surgery was necessary due to the severity of the injuries, according to authorities.

A preliminary hearing for Santos-Rivera was scheduled for Aug. 26.
