Northampton Area Public Library is preparing for a busy autumn filled with three delicious, entertaining and community-centered ways to support the library — the Double Good popcorn fundraiser, the annual online auction and the autumn basket raffle.

Fundraising support is especially important this year as the library works to offset the loss of $180,000 in annual funding. Proceeds from these events will help the library continue providing books and other materials, technology access, educational programs, outreach services and welcoming spaces for residents throughout Northampton Area School District.

Beginning Sept. 1, library supporters can order Double Good gourmet popcorn at the library. Orders will be accepted through the close of the autumn basket raffle 8 p.m. Oct. 9.

With a variety of sweet and savory flavors available, the popcorn fundraiser offers an easy and tasty way to support the library. Orders may also make excellent gifts for family members, friends, coworkers, teachers and anyone who appreciates a good snack.

The library’s annual online auction will open 9 a.m. Sept. 27 and continue through 11 p.m. Oct. 3.

Community members can participate from home as they browse items and experiences donated by businesses, organizations and other generous supporters. Bidders will have one week to follow their favorite listings and place their final bids before the auction closes.

The fundraising season will culminate with the autumn basket raffle 6-8 p.m. Oct. 9 at Northampton Banquet and Event Center, 1601 Laubach Ave.

This longtime community tradition will feature an assortment of themed baskets, gift certificates, merchandise and other prizes made possible by local businesses, community organizations and individual donors. Winners will be selected during the evening, with the event and Double Good popcorn ordering both concluding 8 p.m.

Whether you order popcorn, bid in the online auction, attend the basket raffle, donate an item or help spread the word, every contribution strengthens the library and the services it provides to the community.
