Northampton County District Attorney Stephen G. Baratta has announced the arrest of James Aqib Malik Johns in connection with a drug investigation that led to the seizure of a kilogram of cocaine and two illegally possessed firearms.

On July 29, police obtained a search warrant for Johns’s residence located at 130 S 12th St., Easton, in connection with an ongoing drug-related investigation. Troopers detained Johns outside of his residence and located a kilogram of cocaine on his person. The estimated street value of the seized cocaine is approximately $30,000, with the potential to increase if divided and distributed in smaller quantities.

Upon executing the search warrant on Johns’s residence, troopers and detectives located approximately $40,000 in U.S. currency and two firearms that were determined to be stolen. Troopers also identified Johns as a person not eligible to possess a firearm.

Johns is charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver, two counts of possession of a firearm prohibited, and two counts of receiving stolen property. He was arraigned before

Magisterial District Judge Daniel G. Corpora and was committed to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $200,000 bail. This arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bethlehem City Police Department, the Easton Police Department, the Northampton County Drug Task Force and the Pennsylvania State Police.
