Durrell B. Hafler

of Salisbury Township

Durrell B. Hafler, 91, of Salisbury Township, died Aug. 22, 2026, in his home. He was the husband of the late Rosalie (Simcoe) Hafler, who died in 2006 and a longtime companion to Lucille Schimenek. Born in Quakertown, he was a son of the late Verna Haines.

He was a graduate of Quakertown High School.

He worked as a grocery clerk at ACME Markets for 38 years and as a school bus driver in the Parkland School District for 30 years, until retiring in 2003.

He was also on the Allentown Police Reserves for many years.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church and a previous member of the Cathedral Church of St. Catharine of Siena, both in Allentown.

He enjoyed playing on the Club 55 Bowling League.

His is survived by his loving companion, Lucy; children, Sylvia M. Frederick, of Brick, N.J., Lisa K. Volk, of Allentown, Michael L. and his wife, Nancy, of Easton, Gregory P. and his wife, Shelly, of Schnecksville; son-in-law, Robert Volk; brother, Joseph Mazinas, of Quakertown; stepsisters, Mary Jane and Mary Ellen; grandchildren, Linda Duchatkiewicz (Robert), Kevin Frederick (Lauren), Nicole Kretzman (Chris), Brett Volk, Derek (Alisa), Kara May (Don), Shelby and Abbey; great-grandchildren, Chase, Mary, Howard, Cameron, Jones, Aubree, Dylan and Kolt. He was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Neil Frederick.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Aug. 28 in St. Paul’s R.C. Church, 920 S. Second St., Allentown, PA. A viewing for relatives and friends will be held 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society and mailed to St. Paul’s R.C. Church, Allentown 18103 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memorial Giving, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.

Arrangements are entrusted to the K.V. Knopp Funeral Home, Allentown.
