The zoning hearing board will meet 5:30 p.m. Sept. 1 for a public hearing. Dream Home Builders LLC is appealing the denial of a zoning permit for the subdivision and development of 304-310 Grove St. The applicant seeks to develop the property containing a vacant warehouse as four-town home unit.

The property lies in the R3: multifamily residential zoning district.

The board will also hear from New Image Enterprises LLC, and Neal Shail LLC to appeal the denial of a zoning permit for a property located at 1023 Fifth St. The applicant seeks to convert the structure to a duplex. The property is in the R2: two-family residential zoning district.

Catasauqua Garden Club meets Sept. 2 at Jednota Slovak Center Social Club, 1233 Fifth St. The doors will open 12:30 p.m., and the meeting will begin 1 p.m.

The group will be learning about house plant propagation from Master Gardener Celeste Ball. Garden-friendly visitors are welcome.

St. John Fisher Catholic Church, 1229 Third St., is having a Kornfiend’s Market sandwich sale fundraiser. Orders and payment are due by Sept. 4.

Pickup will be 4-6 p.m. Sept. 16 in the lower level church hall.

The choices are roast beef, ham and turkey. Sandwiches are on Kaiser rolls and come with white American cheese and a packet of mustard or mayonnaise.

St. John Fisher Catholic Church and St. Mary’s Catholic Church invites the public to a new Bible study. Sign-ups close Sept. 6.

Bring your Bible to the 6:30-7:45 p.m. Thursday sessions Sept. 10-Oct. 29 or the 9:40-10:55 a.m. Saturday sessions Sept. 12-Oct. 31. If you miss Thursday evening at St. John Fisher, you can still join with attendees for the same session Saturday morning at St. Mary’s.

The next North Catasauqua first Monday car cruise will take place 4-8 p.m. Sept. 7 at North Catasauqua William J. Albert Memorial Park, 701 Grove St.

The Public Library of Catasauqua will host an informative program in its History of Catasauqua series 7 p.m. Sept. 9. Deb Mellish, of Historic Catasauqua Preservation Association, will present “Scots Irish in the Lehigh Valley and the Fight for Independence.”

North Catasauqua Police Department will hold a Stop the Bleed campaign course 10:30 a.m.-noon Sept. 12 at borough hall, 1066 Fourth St.

The course teaches people how to apply pressure to wounds, pack wounds with gauze and use tourniquets.

School is back in session, which means we will see school buses on our roads. The Pennsylvania school bus stopping law states motorists must stop at least 10 feet from school buses that have their red lights flashing and stop arm extended.

Penalties for failure to obey school bus safety laws can result in a $250 fine, five points on a driving record and a 60-day license suspension.
