Line dancing sessions have returned to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7293, 5209 Springmill Road. Beginner-focused lessons will be offered from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Aug. 27 and Sept. 10 and 24.

Open dance sessions are set for 7-10 p.m. the third Friday of the month. The next open dance session will be Sept. 18.

Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 4331 Main St., Egypt, will hold a blessing of the backpacks during the 9 a.m. Aug. 30 service.

There will also be a blessing of the pets service on the church lawn 9 a.m. Sept. 6. All friendly animals are welcome, provided they are leashed, harnessed, bridled or crated.

In case of inclement weather, the service will be held in the fellowship hall.

Shepherd of the Hills’ Sunday school and confirmation classes for age 3 through high school begin 10:15 a.m. Sept. 13.

Whitehall Lions Club, in cooperation with Miller-Keystone Blood Center, has scheduled a blood drive for 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Sept. 8 at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church. You can donate blood every 56 days.

People who take blood thinners are not eligible.

Hop on your broom and fly over to the Witches’ Night Market 3-9 p.m. Sept. 19 at Cementon Park, 5185 Dewey St. The event includes crafts, food trucks, live music, card readings, tricky tray raffle and trick-or-treating at the vending booths.

Egypt Community Church, 4129 S. Church St., will celebrate National Back to Church Sunday Sept. 20. Sunday school classes will begin 8:55 a.m., and the church service begins 10:30 a.m.

All visitors will receive a free Bible.

The youth group of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church is accepting new or used books, puzzles, games, CDs, DVDs and vinyl records for a used book sale fundraiser planned for fall 2027.

Donated items must be free of mold and mildew. The group cannot accept textbooks, technical manuals, encyclopedias, reference books, medical books, VCR or cassette tapes or magazines.

Drop off your items in the enclosed porch at the back of the church.
