2nd Regiment reenactment July 25

The Shelter House Society will host the 2nd Regiment of Pennsylvania, described as “an authentic recreation of an actual patriot colonial military unit” in special demonstrations July 25 as part of Emmaus events celebrating th semiquincentennial of the signing of the Declaration of Independence

Demonstrations are scheduled 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

A “soldiers encampment” will be portrayed by reenactors on the grounds of the Shelter House, Emmaus. Military demonstrations will be on the nearby athletic field and include the loading and firing of weapons, including muskets and a field cannon.

“Visitors will have the opportunity after each demonstration to enter the field and talk to the troops and see their colonial military equipment,” according to organizers.

Other highlights will include demonstrations of basket weaving, candle making, brewing and log hewing.

Tours of the 1734 Shelter House log cabin also will be offered.
