Recent Salisbury High School graduate Steven Lozada competed in last week’s New Balance Nationals Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

The two-time state medalist in pole vault took 14th place in the event at last week’s meet, which was held at the University of Pennsylvania’s Franklin Field.

Lozada cleared 14 feet, 9 inches on his first attempt, then got over his next height (15-3) on his third attempt before failing to clear 15-9. Only 10 participants in the event got past 15-9 and only four made it over 16-0.

Luke Schneiber (Cincinnati Country Day School) won the event after clearing his first five heights on his initial attempt, including his winning leap of 16-8.
