LM Connie Mack tops Palmerton
The Lower Macungie Senior Connie Mack team is looking to finish the regular season strong.
The Mustangs went 1-1 last and were leading another game that was postponed due to rain.
There were three games in three days last week for Lower Mac as it started the stretch with a 9-5 victory over Palmerton last Wednesday. The next night, the Mustangs fell 5-4 at Northern Lehigh. On Friday night, Lower Macungie held a 5-1 lead after two-and-a-half innings before rain paused the game.
In the win over the Blue Bombers, the Mustangs fell behind 2-0 after the top of the first inning, but cut their deficit in half with a run in the bottom of the first and then tied the score with two runs in the second after the visitors added one more in the same frame.
Three more runs in the bottom of the third helped the hosts take their first lead, and then they tacked on three more in the fourth when they needed to after Palmerton scored twice in the top-half.
The Mustangs finished with seven hits, with Chase Evans, Ryley George and Dalton Tabako all recording two hits, and Justin Spagna contributing one. George and Chase Belzecky both had two RBIs and Dominic Gasper, Evans, Spagna, Tabako and Ryan Knight all added one. George earned the victory on the mound, starting and throwing four innings with three strikeouts.
In the game with the Bulldogs, Lower Mac held a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the seventh, but the hosts rallied for three runs to walk it off.
The Mustangs scored a run in the top of the first and then trailed 2-1 into the top of the fourth, but tacked on a run in both the fourth and fifth innings and then another in the top of the seventh.
Evans, Belzecky and Logan Kershner all finished with two hits with Evans adding an RBI. Owen Herrity, Gasper, George, Tabako and Knight each contributed a hit.
Against Moore, Lower Mac scored twice in the first and then added three more in the top of the third before the game was paused, leading 5-1.
Evans tallied two hits and an RBI and Gasper notched a hit and an RBI.
Lower Macungie enters this week at 8-4-3 overall and has its regular season finale at Hellertown Wednesday.
The Lehigh Valley League playoffs will begin next week.
