Emmaus Senior Connie Mack team drops three games

The Emmaus Senior Connie Mack baseball team suffered some adversity last week after previously winning three of its last four games.

The Hornets lost all three of their games last week. Last Monday, June 22, Emmaus fell to Hellertown 12-2 in five innings at home, was then downed by Northern Valley 9-3 two days later on the road, before losing to Lehigh Bethlehem 17-2 in four innings at home Friday to conclude the week.

Hellertown took an early 1-0 lead with a run in the first inning. The Hornets tied the score with a run in the bottom of the second. Hellertown took control of the game with 11 over the next three innings to end the game via mercy rule.

Seven Emmaus batters finished with one hit, including Braiden Marshall, Jake French, Bryce Andrew, Josh Knecht, Bryson Benner, Julian Nieves and Elijah Deisher, with Benner recording an RBI.

Against Northern Valley, the Hornets held an early lead with a run in the top of the first inning on an RBI single by Benner. The Chargers responded with two runs in the bottom half of the frame.

Emmaus tied the score at two with an RBI single from Andrew in the top of the third, but the hosts recorded seven runs over the course of the next two innings to take the game. Benner finished with two hits and two RBIs and Andrew, Nieves and Deisher all had a hit.

The matchup versus Lehigh Bethlehem was short lived as it scored four runs in the first, five in the second, seven in the third and one in the fourth and held the Hornets to just a run in the first and third innings.

Andrew tallied two hits and an RBI and Deisher and Benner contributed a hit each.

Emmaus dropped to 4-11 overall with two games left in the regular season.
