Fire fighters from Lower Macungie fire departments join police, fire and EMS units from around the area as they pay their final respects to Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Michael E. Pahira Jr. in a procession near Lehigh Valley Hospital, South Cedar Crest Boulevard, Salisbury Township. Pahira was struck and killed along Interstate 81 Southbound while performing a vehicle inspection July 1. Pahira “is the 106th member of the Pennsylvania State Police to die in the line of duty,” according to a press release from Pennsylvania State Police.
