Quota Club honors volunteer
At a friendly gathering rich with fellowship, the Quota Club of Northampton celebrated a longtime member with a remarkable volunteer career. The honors took place at a dinner held at Northampton Banquet and Event Center, 1601 Laubach Ave.
Nancy Birosik was applauded for her distinguished 50-year volunteer career serving the Quota Club of Northampton. Birosik volunteers for the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church events and filled the role as a Eucharistic minister serving homebound parishioners and transported in-need parishioners to doctors’ appointments.
Birosik was a member and president of the Young at Heart group for many years. Young at Heart is a social organization open to people ages 55 and older. They follow current events and hold bingo nights, clambakes, a summer picnic and other social encounters.
A registered nurse working in the surgery department at the former Haff Hospital of Northampton, Birosik’s nursing career and her volunteer activities link hand-in-hand with her compassion and concern for others.
Some of the Birosik family were on hand to celebrate her volunteer longevity. William III, Stephanie, William II, Sasha and Patricia Birosik proudly sat with their honored loved one.
One attendee, an elderly gentleman, toward the end of the gathering, leaned over and softly said to Birosik, “You are a special person.”
