Lehigh Valley’s Carpenter Cup softball team had a strong showing on Day 1 of the Carpenter Cup Classic on June 16 at FDR Park in Philadelphia.
Lehigh Valley won its first two games, 14-6, against Burlington County, and 7-0, against Philadelphia Catholic/Inter-AC.
Brooklyn Pronovich (Freedom) doubled and had 2 RBI in the game against Burlington County.
Patriot teammate Payton Besecker had a base hit and 1 RBI.
Maddison Bixler, also from Freedom, pitched two innings and struck out four batters.
In the game against Philadelphia Catholic/Inter-AC, Bixler pitched one inning and struck out three.
In Lehigh Valley’s third game of the day, the home team fell to Delaware County, 6-0.
On Day 2 of the tournament, Lehigh Valley was eliminated by Tri-Cape after losing, 5-4.
Bixler had a double, a triple, and 3 RBI in the loss.
Besecker had 1 RBI and two hits, and Pronovich had a base hit in Lehigh Valley’s last game.
