Four seniors led Trojan boys volleyball

The Parkland High School boys volleyball team finished a successful, bounce-back season in 2026.

After not winning a championship in conference, district or state in 2025, the Trojans won the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference title this season before falling in the District 11 3A championship match.

Parkland ended the year with a 16-4 overall record and 10-2 mark in the conference. The Trojans defeated Whitehall in the EPC final before falling to the Zephyrs in the district semifinal round.

“The regular season was solid, and winning the EPCs was a great way to end the league portion of our schedule,” said Trojan head coach Scott Trumbauer. “We showed a lot of growth, especially against teams that either beat us the first time around or pushed us. Some of my favorite highlights are always watching the guys compete in those big moments.

“Winning the EPC Championship is an obvious choice, but so were individual performances like Jude Ruisch’s 14 kills at Nazareth, Zamin Soonasra’s 10 kills and 10 digs night against Freedom in the EPC semifinal, Zeke Gordner’s growth as our primary outside hitter throughout the season and seeing the team chemistry develop were huge.”

The Trojans were led by their four seniors in Gabe Chase, Bear Jacobs, Ruisch and Ryan Kearney.

“The senior class meant a lot to us,” Trumbauer said. “They provided leadership and set a great standard for the younger guys. Statistically, we will need to find others to contribute a lot next year because this senior class accounted for 52 percent of our kills, 64 percent of our blocks, and 87 percent of our assists. To say we have huge shoes to fill is an understatement.”

Gordner led the attack with 195 kills and added 29 blocks and 56 digs. Ruisch finished with 176 kills, nine blocks and 43 digs. Soonasra tallied 144 kills, 141 digs, 25 blocks, nine assists and a team-best 27 aces. Jacobs recorded 143 kills, 51 blocks, 34 digs and nine assists.

Kearney totaled 81 kills and 43 blocks. Chase contributed 667 assists, 152 digs and 34 kills. Owen Barnett added 261 digs and 41 assists.

“I’m excited about the core group returning next year,” said Trumbauer. “We have some great underclassmen who got significant time this year, especially Zamin, Zeke, and Owen, and they are ready to step up into bigger roles next season, along with several guys who contributed in a lot of matches this season.

“We also had a very successful JV season this year, and a number of the guys from that team are ready to step into varsity roles.”
