The Catty Seniors Plus group disbanded in July.
The group was organized in January 2017 after the Catasauqua Young at Heart group disbanded in December 2016. The officers that were elected before Young at Heart disbanded decided they would try and form a new group.
The group met with members from 60-101 on the fourth Wednesday of every month. They were thankful to Slovak Center Social Club for helping them get started by providing a place to hold meetings and activities.
The club did casino trips, dinner shows, parties and luncheons, and every meeting concluded with playing bingo.
The had guest speakers provided by Lehigh Valley Aging in Place to speak about programs to assist seniors.
The club was always thoughtful to the community. They provided flowers for Memorial Day at Catasauqua American Legion Post 215 and donated money to Catasauqua Community Food Bank, snacks to the VA nursing home in Wilkes-Barre, to VALOR to help homeless veterans and to Catasauqua Area School District for supplies to children in need.
Sadly, the group disbanded July 22 due to health issues and age. The group ended with a Christmas in July party.
The group members agreed it was a pleasure to be able to help the community in small ways and make friends with so many people.
