Wanderers eyes historic NORCO Legion title

The Wanderers will enter the 2026 NORCO season with a chance to make history.

After capturing three consecutive league championships, the Wanderers are seeking an unprecedented fourth straight NORCO title, a feat that head coach Paul Walsh believes has never been accomplished in league history.

“We are competing for our fourth championship in a row,” Walsh said. “From what I gather, there has never been a four-peat in NORCO. Our expectations are always the same. Compete each night in and night out, play hard, and aim to win a championship along with a regional berth.”

The Wanderers return a talented and versatile roster featuring several standout players from Bethlehem.

Leading the group are outfielder and infielder Jake Strong, first baseman Jake Matthews, catcher/outfielder Kam Kensicki, catcher Christian Hackett, center fielder Dereon Ellis, and shortstop/pitcher Willie Cruz.

The pitching staff is expected to be anchored by Drew Erfle, Liam Fitzpatrick, Cruz, Fikire Conway, Rocco Sciarra and Kyle Brandt, giving the Wanderers depth on the mound as they pursue another championship run. Conway and Brandt also provide athleticism in the outfield, while Sciarra offers versatility as both an infielder and pitcher. Liberty standout Brayden Kashner adds another strong bat and defensive presence at first base.

Walsh said getting the team together earlier than usual has provided some advantages as the season gets underway.

“I think having the group earlier helps in some ways,” Walsh said. “We were able to practice more than normal, for example, and we hopefully will have more relief in the way of the schedule than in years past.”

Still, the Wanderers have succeeded under a variety of circumstances and aren’t focused on factors beyond their control.

“While it is a bit of a mad dash, we have won when having the guys later too,” said Walsh. “As long as we play the game we are capable of playing, the rest doesn’t matter much to us. We are used to being dealt the schedule we are dealt.”
