Allen/East Allen townships: Festival planned for June 6, 7

Kreidersville Covered Bridge Association, 100 Covered Bridge Road, is planning to hold its biannual festival June 6 and 7.

Fill up on homemade food including strawberry shortcake, an old-fashioned pig roast and beer tastings featuring Lehigh Valley Homebrewers. The event will include a basket raffle, Lehigh County 4-H, Civil War reenactors, Carla Messinger with Native American displays and hay wagon rides.

There will be a Heritage Homestead petting zoo 12:30-5:30 p.m. both days, a demonstration from Elite Martial Arts 11 a.m. June 6, a MedEvac helicopter 2 p.m. June 7 and local historian Larry Oberly 2 p.m. June 7.

Musical entertainment includes Brake for Turtles noon-3 p.m. and James Supra 4-7 p.m. June 6 and then Time Whys noon-3 p.m. and South Penn Dixie 4-7 p.m. June 7.

Register now for the East Allen Township summer camp program, set for 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, June 22-Aug. 7. Children ages 6-11 can participate.

Governor Wolf Historical Society, 6600 Jacksonville Road, East Allen Township, and Horner’s Cemetery are members of Lehigh Valley Passport to History, a partnership of more than 50 historic sites and resources in and around Lehigh and Northampton counties. Passport’s website — lvhistory.org — highlights historical activities, events, tours and exhibitions throughout the area.

The Passport to History day is scheduled for 10 a.m.-3 p.m. June 27.

Lappawinzo Fish and Game Association, 25 Lappawinzo Road, Allen Township, is organizing a trip to Mohegan Sun Casino for a combo gambling and racing harness excursion July 19. The group will leave 1 p.m. and return 10:30-11 p.m. The track start is 5 p.m.

There is a cost.

Lappawinzo Fish and Game will not host breakfasts during the months of June, July and August. Breakfast will resume Sept. 20.

Governor Wolf Historical Society will be hosting craft gatherings 10 a.m.-noon the first and third Thursdays of each month in the meeting room of the Monocacy School on the historic campus. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Bring your project, supplies, a drink and perhaps a snack and prepare for good conversation and a productive two hours.

No registration is needed. A $5 donation is requested to defray facility costs.
