Robert S. Hassay, Sr., 84, of Bethlehem, died May 17, 2026, at Kirkland Village.

He was born to the late Louis and Mary (Kuzma) Hassay. He was the husband of Mary Swegel Fye Hassay, and they celebrated their 45th anniversary May 1. His first wife, Kathleen Spisak Hassay, died in 1980.

He attended Bethlehem area schools and graduated from Liberty HS in 1960. He was also a graduate of Allentown Business College where he studied accounting.

He was with Allentown accounting firm Berg, Schulz, and Green, CPAs, from 1966-78, assistant controller for Market Operators, from 1978-80, and was office manager for Posh Construction from 1981-82. For the rest of his professional life, he was the office manager for Banko Beverage Company and Warren Distributing in Flanders, N.J.

Hr was a member of the former St. John’s Windish Lutheran Church, Bethlehem, where served as financial secretary for the First Windish Sick and Beneficial Society of South Bethlehem. He was most recently a member of Blessed Trinity Lutheran Church at Rosemont in Bethlehem.

He enjoyed NASCAR racing, and he was a lifelong fan of Lehigh University sports and was a proud ‘South Side Booster’. He was also a devoted fan of Philadelphia sports teams, especially the Eagles and the Phillies.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by; his son, Robert Jr. and wife, Linda, his daughter, Laurie, of Boston, and by Mary’s daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Mike Petrie, and their daughters and grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Anna Marie Hassay, his cousin, Carol Henn, and by his niece, Colleen Rekai (Mark), and nephews Louis Hassay Jr. (Angela), and Andrew Hassay (Sue) and their children and grandchildren. He was predeceased by his older brother Louis, and his first wife, Kathy.

Contributions may be made to Blessed Trinity Lutheran Church at Rosemont, the American Cancer Society, or to a charity of one’s choice.
