Audit of Salisbury Township presents a positive picture

A report on the 2025 audit of Salisbury Township has presented a positive picture.

“You guys got a clean opinion. The financial statuaries were acceptable,” Christopher W. Betley, shareholder, Buckno Lisicky & Company, said at the May 14 board of commissioners’ meeting.

“We didn’t have any kind of deficiencies in internal controls,” Betley said.

Three motions where approved by a 4-0 vote, with one commissioner absent, on a motion by Commissioner Heather Lipkin and seconded by Commissioner Allison Leayman:

— A new Mutual of Understanding between Salisbury School District and the Salisbury Township Police Department;

— A new Mutual of Understanding between Arts Academy Charter Middle School and the Salisbury Township Police Department, and

— A new Mutual of Understanding between St. Thomas More School and the Salisbury Township Police Department.

Two ordnances were approved 4-0 to vacate streets.

Lipkin made the motion, seconded by Leayman, to approve a street vacation behind 1801 Broadway and to approve a street vacation of a portion of East Trout Street between South Gilmore Street and South Halstead Street.

A resolution was approved 4-0 for the disposition of municipal property.

Leayman made the motion, seconded by Lipkin.

To be sold is a 2021 Badboy Rogue 61-in. zero mower with 630 hours of use.

The township hopes to sell it on Municibid, online government auctions, or a trade-in for a new vehicle or vehicles as is permitted by the state’s COSTARS Program, or sale by public bid or auction.

Additionally, several motions, in separate 4-0 votes:

— Authorized renewal of the Franko Farmhouse lease agreement.

Commissioner Alok Patnaik, made the motion, seconded by Lipkin.

— Authorized renewal of lease agreement with Allentown SMSA Limited Partnership doing business as Verizon Wireless for a Cell Tower at 2399 Honeysuckle Road.

Lipkin made the motion, seconded by Leayman.

— Amended five-year promissory note with Lehigh County for $828,277.87 for the purchase of a county-wide public radio.

Patnaik made the motion, seconded by Lipkin.

— Released a maintenance bond for the 1204 Voortman Avenue minor subdivision project.

Lipkin made the motion, seconded by Leayman.

Salisbury Township board of commissioners’ President Debra Brinton announced an executive session was held before the meeting to discuss legal and real estate matters.

Upcoming scheduled meetings in the township municipal building, 2900 S. Pike Ave., include: 7 p.m. May 27, planning commission, and 7 p.m. May 28, board of commissioners.
