AM Radio Tribute Band at Franko Farm Park May 30

Salisbury Township students will not have school May 22 for a professional development day. Township schools will also be closed May 25 in observation of the Memorial Day holiday.

Student will have school June 11 as a make-up day and the official last day of the school year will be June 12.

On June 11, Salisbury High School and Salisbury Middle School will dismiss 12:15 p.m. and Salisbury Elementary School will dismiss 1:15 p.m.

On June 12, SHS and SMS will dismiss 10:30 a.m. and SES will dismiss 11:15 a.m. It’s getting close!

Speaking of the end of the year, graduation for the Class of 2026 is just around the corner. SHS will hold graduation June 5, with a rain date of June 6. Information regarding tickets and events for seniors has been distributed to the graduating class.

Salisbury Township is proud to again host a free community concert 1-4 p.m. May 30 at Franko Farm Park. The AM Radio Tribute Band will perform great music from the 1960s and 1970s.

Eastern Salisbury Fire Department is holding an online raffle for an IronPigs spirit pack that includes two tickets to the game July 12. Tickets are limited. Included in the pack is IronPigs swag, snacks and a $50 gift card for dinner or the Clubhouse. The D&L National Heritage Corridor has kicked off the 2026 Get Your Tail on the Trail 165-mile challenge. This free challenge invites you to explore the trail, whether it’s walking, running, biking or paddling and to get active setting personal goals and challenges while learning about the region’s history and landscapes. The annual Miller Memorial Blood Drive in loving memory of Wayne Leibensperger Jr. will be held 3-7 p.m. June 2 at Jerusalem Lutheran Church of Eastern Salisbury, 1707 Church Road, Allentown. Call Deana Leibensperger to make an appointment at 610-217-3155.

Jerusalem Church of Eastern Salisbury is hosting a trip to Sight & Sound to see “Joshua” Aug. 11. The bus leaves 10 a.m., a noon lunch and the show begins 3 p.m. Reservation deadline is June 8. For reservations, call Louise at 610-866-1611 or email stephens.louise.a@gmail.com.

Our township recycling centers are again open for yard waste and branches. Franko Farm will be open May 21 and 23 and Devonshire will be open May 28 and 30. The recycle centers will be closed Memorial Day. Hours continue to be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays and 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturdays.

Salisbury Township is hosting a community blood drive noon to 6 p.m. June 8 at the municipal building, 2900 S. Pike Ave., Allentown. Appointments are required. To schedule, visit https:/donor.giveapint.org/donor/schedules/drive_schedule/90483.

The Summer Playground Program will begin June 17 and continue through July 24, offering games, activities and outdoor fun for Salisbury students who have completed kindergarten through age 12. The program is held 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday with evening hours 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesdays. The program is offered at Lindberg Park and Laubach Park. Registration information will be provided on the township website and the township Facebook page.

Looking ahead, National Night Out will be held Aug. 4. This is an opportunity for residents and officers to come together in a family-friendly environment. More information will be provided closer to the event. Basket raffle donations are needed; contact Stephanie Alvarado at salvarado@salisburylehighpa.gov.

The Allentown Public Library, 1210 Hamilton St., Allentown, continues to host various activities for children and adults. Events include Dungeons and Dragons for high school and college-age students 5-7 p.m. Thursdays, Tech Tuesday, adult book club, STEM activities and mindful papermaking.
