EHS names student of the week
Q. Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.
A. My dad, Mark; my mom, Lesa; my sister, Heather; my sister, Emily; dogs, Penny and Daisy and cat, Olive.
Q. As a senior, do you have any specific goals you are pursuing this academic year?
A. I wish to attain the principal’s honor roll for all four marking periods.
Q. What is your favorite class at Emmaus High School? Why?
A. My favorite class is statistics because I like working with numbers and I find it satisfying to make conclusions after plugging numbers into equations.
Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?
A. I received an underclassman award for excellence in pre-calculus.
Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? How has being involved in these organizations impacted your high school experience?
A. I currently play on the varsity baseball team. I am a member of National Honor Society and the Spanish Honor Society. I am the president of the Pediatric Cancer Club and co-president of the Hacky Sack Club. I am a member of the Pickle Ball Club. In addition, I am also a Hornet Ambassador. Being involved in all of these organizations has taught me to work with others and reinforced the importance of giving back to my community.
Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?
A. My biggest challenge has been managing my time effectively to allow a healthy balance of school and personal life.
Q. At this time, what are your plans for the future beyond high school?
A. In fall, I will be attending Penn State Smeal Business School on the main campus majoring in actuarial science. I plan on using this degree to pursue a career as an actuary.
Q. If you could spend an evening conversing with a historically significant person, whom would you choose? Why?
A. It would be Abraham Lincoln. He had to make important decisions during times of conflict. He was honest and ethical. He continued to fight for what he believed was right and never gave up no matter how many people were against him.
Q. For what would you like to be remembered?
A. I would like to be remembered for my character and my hard work and dedication to being the best I can be. I want to be remembered for being a good student, a good friend and just a good person.
Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?
A. Work your hardest and to your best ability. Remember one bad grade doesn’t define who you are. Use it as a learning experience to reset and work harder. Enjoy your time. It goes a lot faster than you think.
