Trojans suffer first EPC loss, bounce back with win
The Parkland baseball team suffered its first league loss last week before bouncing back with a win Monday.
The Trojans were beat by Easton Saturday, 10-0, for their first loss of the season in East Penn Conference play. They shook off the loss and routed Dieruff 17-3 two days later.
Parkland had just four hits and made a pair of errors against the Red Rovers, which scored two runs in the first inning then opened an 8-0 lead with six runs in the third. An Easton run in the fourth and another in the sixth ended the game by the 10-run rule.
Jack Streeter, Luqkia Dickson, Aiden Henning and Ben Weninger had hits in the game for Parkland.
Chase Brunner was tagged with the loss, allowing eight runs (five earned) on five hits and four walks over 2.2 innings while striking out two batters. Dempsey Lawson pitched 2.1 innings and allowed one run and one hit while walking two and striking out a pair of batters.
Easton hurler Nolan Stem went all six innings and allowed four hits and no runs while striking out seven batters and walking one.
In the win over Dieruff, Parkland put up seven runs over the first two innings, another run in the third and nine in the fourth that made it a mercy-rule win.
Tsubasa Magota had two of Parkland’s four hits in the game and scored three runs. Nolan Wampler went 1-for-2 and drove in a pair of runs.
Carter DeLong allowed four Husky hits and three runs over five innings while striking out nine batters and walking two.
With the win Parkland improved to 10-4 overall and 9-1 in EPC play with six games left in the regular season.
The Trojans still lead the Lehigh Division by one game over Whitehall (9-4; 8-2) and lead the race for the top seed in the league playoffs with Liberty (10-4; 9-2) has the Zephyrs not far behind.
