Trojans beat Kids, Bulldogs

The Parkland High School boys lacrosse team had a successful week last week, winning two of its three games overall and going 1-1 in Eastern Pennsylvania Conference action.

The week started with a 7-2 setback at Easton last Tuesday, April 7, but the Trojans responded with an 11-6 victory over Northampton two nights later. Parkland concluded the week with a 10-6 win over Wilson West Lawn on Saturday afternoon.

In the game with the Red Rovers, the score was tied 1-1 after the opening quarter, but then the hosts outscored the Trojans 3-0 in the second and 2-0 in the third to take control of the game. Colton Arezzi and John Gerancher had the goals for Parkland and Breckin Serratore contributed an assist. Owen Fehnel finished with seven saves in net.

In the win over the Kids, Parkland scored two of the three first-quarter goals to take a one-goal lead after one. The teams each scored three goals in the second as the Trojans went into halftime up 5-4. They used a big third quarter where they outscored Northampton 6-2 to leave winners.

Gerancher led the attack with five goals and an assist. Arezzi tallied two goals and three assists. Danny Tapia, Isaiah Fisher, Drew Shaffer and Serratore each found the back of the net once. Tapia, Gerancher and Fehnel all dished out an assist. Fehnel also made five saves.

In the victory against the Bulldogs, Parkland trailed 5-3 after the first quarter, but then outscored WWL 2-0 for both of the next two quarters and scored three of the final four goals in the fourth to win it.

Arezzi finished with four goals and an assist. Gerancher recorded three goals and two assists. Bailey Wettmore notched a goal and an assist and Fisher totaled two goals. Fehnel finished with 11 saves for the win.

Parkland improved to 6-5 overall and 2-2 in the conference.
