Hornets fall to EPC leaders PV, Nazareth

After winning five of its first six games overall and its first three Eastern Pennsylvania Conference contests to start the season, the Emmaus girls lacrosse team dropped a couple games against the top two teams in the conference in defending champion Pleasant Valley and Nazareth.

Emmaus lost to the Bears 8-6 last Tuesday, April 7, at Memorial Field, and then fell to the Blue Eagles on Thursday on the road.

In the game with Pleasant Valley, Sarah Gross finished with a team-high two goals and then each of Evelyn Gavin, Rylie Poll, Avery Aquino and Sarah Palazzo found the back of the net once. Kathryn Newhard had an assist. Gavin led the team with four ground balls and both Gavin and Poll won a draw control each. Kate Rainford finished with 13 saves in net, as the Hornets were outshot 13-10.

Against Nazareth, Poll, Gross, Aquino and Paige McClain all scored a goal, while Poll and Gavin both had an assist. McKenzy Caraballo collected a team-best two ground balls, while Madison Lenig won a team-high five draw controls. Rainford made six saves.

Emmaus fell to 5-3 overall and 3-2 in the conference.
