Emmaus track and field teams sweep Whitehall
The Emmaus boys and girls track and field teams swept Whitehall last Thursday in an East Penn Conference meet.
The Hornet boys improved to 5-0 on the season with a dominant 127-23 victory while winning 15 of the 18 events on the day. Emmaus won every relay, along with all of the short and mid distance races. Rien George (200, 400) and Roen Wool (1600, 3200) each won multiple events against the Zephyrs. Nicholi Marsh (100) and David Hearn (800) rounded out the Hornets’ winners in the running events.
It was a much more balanced effort in the jumping and throwing events, but Emmaus still dominated by winning all but one of those events (pole vault). Robert Edwards (shot put), Chace Corcoran (discus) and Brian Brown (javelin) placed first in each of their respective throwing events, while Nehemiah Price (long jump), Maghil Wimberly (triple jump) and Jathniel Feguiere (high jump) headlined the jumping events.
The girls side was a bit closer, but Emmaus still had its way against Whitehall with winning `12 of the 18 events. Claudia Walls headlined the day for the Hornets with first-place marks in the long jump, triple jump and high jump. Madelyn McCartney won the 800- and 1600-meter runs as the other multiple-event winner on the girls’ side.
Rounding out the Hornets’ winners were Bridget Aquino (400), Myla Felegy (3200), Kayleen Louis (shot put), Margaret Anthony (discus) and Brianna Carwell (pole vault). Emmaus won two of the three relay events as well.
