Hornets compete at South Lehigh Invitational

The Emmaus track and field teams competed in the Southern Lehigh Invitational over the weekend, and multiple Hornets placed first in their respective events on Saturday.

Five different Hornets took the top spot on the girls side, headlined by the distance running events. Grace Nosal won the 1600-meter run in a time of 5:24.03, while Madelyn McCartney placed first in the 3200-meter run in 10:43.46. Marleigh Llewellyn won her running event as well, placing first in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 16.14 seconds.

Emmaus also made a name for itself in the jumping and throwing events. Claudia Walls jumped 5-3 in the high jump event for a first-place mark, while Kayleen Louis dominated the shot put with a throw of 34-2 1/4.

The boys side was impressive in the running events as well. Michael Carwell cruised to a first-place finish in the 1600-meter run in a time of 4:29.28, while David Hearn won the 3200-meter run in 9:48.49. The 400-meter relay team was victorious as well, finishing with a time of 41.85 seconds.

Robert Edwards was the other Hornet to win an event, securing the top spot in the shot put with a mark of 52-7 3/4.

A total of five other Hornets placed second in their respective events: Samantha Reidnauer (1600-meter run), London Barrett (800-meter run), Roen Woolf (3200-meter run), Jathniel Feguiere (high jump), and the boys 3200-meter relay team.

Emmaus also competed in a dual meet against Dieruff last week and came away with a sweep of the Huskies.

Nicholi Marsh (100, 200) and Maqhil Wimberly (long jump, triple jump) both won two individual events for the Hornets.
