Emmaus beats Allen, Liberty

The Emmaus High School boys volleyball team won both of its Eastern Pennsylvania Conference matches last week.

The Hornets began the week with a straight set sweep on the road at Dieruff last Monday, April 13, by scores of 25-15, 25-9, 25-13. They followed that up two nights later with a victory over Liberty in four sets by scores of 25-19, 25-20, 25-27, 25-18.

“It was nice getting back out on the court as a team after the Easter holiday,” said Hornet head coach Chris Miller. “The guys have been playing really hard so far this season and have continued to improve in all facets of their game. It has been nice to see as a first-year head coach.”

In the victory over the Huskies, Sander Houtz led the attack with nine kills and added four digs. Miles Boulrice tallied seven kills, two digs and one block. Grayson Answini recorded six kills and three digs. Both Bilaal Kerim and Ben Skekel totaled five kills with Skekel adding three blocks and 21 assists.

In the win against the Hurricanes, Boulrice finished with a team-high 16 kills and contributed three digs. Kerim totaled 11 kills, three blocks and three digs. Houtz netted seven kills and three digs. Both Answini and Skekel had five kills with the latter adding 35 assists and four digs. Jayden Perez recorded eight assists and two digs and Chris Romig had four kills.

“This week was a strong week for the guys,” Miller said. “I thought they worked well together in all facets and it showed in the results. They want to continue to get better and, while those are good wins, they know we have a lot more to play for.”

Emmaus, which improved to 9-1 overall and 8-1 in the conference.

The Hornets enter this week in third place in the East Penn Conference with three league games left on the 2026 regular season schedule. Freedom (13-0 overall, 8-0 EPC) and Nazareth (9-1, 8-0) are on top of the standings with Emmaus, Parkland (9-2, 7-1) and Northampton (10-3, 7-2) rounding out the top five.
