EHS routs Del Val, 19-1

The Emmaus High School girls lacrosse team won all three of its games last week, going 3-0 in a busy week with just two weeks left in the regular season.

The Hornets began the week by defeating Delaware Valley 19-1 last Monday, April 13. The following day, they defeated Liberty 10-9 in Eastern Pennsylvania Conference action. Emmaus finished off the week with an 18-3 victory over Hazleton in a nonconference matchup.

In the victory over Del Val, four players netted hat tricks with Ally Kusko, Rylie Poll, Sarah Gross and Avery Aquino all scoring three goals, with Kusko and Aquino adding an assist. Madison Lenig tallied two goals and Kathryn Newhard, Taylor Younker, Lily Smith, Sarah Palazzo and Paige McClain all found the back of the net once, with Younker contributing three assists.

Poll won a team-high eight draw controls, while Smith collected a team-best three ground balls and forced two turnovers, a high.

In the win against the Hurricanes, Younker finished with a game-high four goals. Aquino recorded a hat trick. Evelyn Gavin totaled two goals and won three draw controls. Poll notched a goal and three assists. Lenig collected four ground balls and won five draw controls, both team highs. Kate Rainford made two saves.

Against the Cougars, the Hornets had 25 shots on goal. Poll scored five goals and added four assists. Newhard and Younker both netted hat tricks and Aquino and McClain scored twice. Kusko, Gavin and Palazzo all found the back of the net once. Lenig grabbed five ground balls and won five draw controls.

Emmaus improved to 8-3 overall and 4-2 in the conference.
