EHS boys lax beats ’Canes

The Emmaus High School boys lacrosse team went 1-1 in Eastern Pennsylvania Conference games last week and remained in second in the conference in team standings with two weeks left in the regular season.

The Hornets opened the week by downing Liberty 13-3 last Tuesday, April 14, and then fell to Central Catholic 20-6 on Thursday night.

In the victory over the Hurricanes, Dylan Maloney led the attack with four goals and also added two assists. Greyson Schmidt netted a hat trick and contributed an assist. Max Weber found the back of the net twice and Javien Mercado, Alex Younker, Brady McKechnie and Colin Garrett each scored a goal, with Mercado dishing out a team-best three assists.

Weber controlled a team-high five ground balls. Garrett won nine of 13 faceoffs. Liam Lewis finished with 18 saves in net.

In the game against the Vikings, Schmidt tallied three goals and an assist to lead the way, while Anthony Attar scored twice and had two assists and Garrett netted one goal. Maloney contributed two assists and Sam Pechulis had one. Garrett grabbed seven ground balls and won seven faceoffs and Weber had six ground balls. Lewis made five saves in goal.

Emmaus moved 7-6 overall and 6-2 in the conference.
