Roughies Report: Students attend cultural event
Kudos to Catasauqua High School students from Mrs. DeBoer’s Spanish classes who recently traveled to the Hispania American Show for a high-energy celebration of Latin American culture. This experience brought classroom lessons to life through live music and dance from countries like Cuba, Colombia and Mexico.
Students got to see professional performances of rhythms like salsa, cumbia and merengue. Student Christian B. even joined the dancers and students from other schools on stage for the interactive finale.
The students enjoyed experiencing the history and traditions of the Spanish-speaking world firsthand.

The priority deadline for submitting applications for LCTI’s 2026-27 school year has passed. Students should contact their school counselor for the code they will need to complete an application. Acceptance letters for the 2026-27 school year will be mailed to students in late April and early May.
Before getting started, be sure to learn about the application process, review the application FAQs and check out the application essay rubric. Applications are scored on a 100-point rubric, and the essay is worth 60 points, so don’t skip this step.
