The Friends of the Emmaus Public Library will host its 26th annual Spring Used Book Sale fundraiser at the library, 11 E. Main St., Emmaus. The sale is open 5:30-7:30 p.m. April 24 for a ‘Friends’ preview night for Friends of the Emmaus Public library members. Visitors may join at the door for a cost. The sale will be open to all 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 25 with the perennially popular Brown Bag Blowout scheduled 2-3 p.m. Sales are by cash or check. Items for sale traditionally include gently used fiction and nonfiction books, children’s books, CDs, DVDs and puzzles. Visit the library website www.emmauspl.org for details.

The Salisbury Township Police Department is teaming up with the Emmaus Police Department for a morning of fun during the “Fish with a Cop” program. The event will take place 8-11 a.m. at Furnace Dam, 451 S. 10th St., Emmaus. Fishing enthusiasts may bring their own pole. Breakfast, snacks and drinks will be provided and no fishing license is required. For questions about this event go to police@emmauspd.org.
The Borough of Emmaus and Upper Milford Township Joint Environmental Advisory Council hosts its annual Earth Day Community Cleanup Day. Volunteer registration starts 8:30 a.m. at Emmaus Community Park, 1401 Shimerville Road. Electronics recycling and shredding services will be available at the park and handled by Responsible Recycling Services, LLC. Visit the township website and social media for details on fees for recycling some electronic items.
April 30
The Woman’s Club of Emmaus hosts its annual Spring Dessert Card Party fundraiser 1 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 501 Chestnut St., Emmaus. Board games also will be available to enjoy. This card party helps with funding for the club’s scholarship for a graduating student at Emmaus High School. Contact Lynn at 484-788-2301 before April 23 for table reservations.
The Marquis de Lafayette, assisted by Ed Johnson, will talk about his life and how he connected with George Washington and the American Revolution at the monthly meeting of the Upper Milford Historical Society 7 p.m. at the Upper Milford Township municipal building, 5671 Chestnut St., Emmaus. All are welcome.

Lower Macungie Township will host its Community Day 4-8:30 p.m. at the community center, 3450 Brookside Road.
May 2
The Faith Uniting Neighbors group of Old Zionsville United Church of Christ, 5981 Fountain Road, Old Zionsville, will host a “Penny Party” in the lower level social hall. Doors open 4:45 p.m., a light supper for purchase will be offered 5 p.m. and the games begin 6 p.m. Bring your pennies and other change for bidding on items of your choice. Church of the Good Shepherd U.C.C., 235 E. Penn Ave., Alburtis, will host a spring craft and vendor sale 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Highlights will include crafts, plants, attic treasures, a gift basket auction, baked goods, refreshments and lunch.
May 3
The Emmaus Rotary Club will host a pollinator house workshop 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Rising River Brewing, 1955 Willow Lane, Macungie. This workshop offers a short educational talk about pollinator houses and attendees create their own pollinator house. Appropriate for all ages. This is a fundraiser to support the Emmaus Rotary Scholarship Foundation, Wilmer Schultz Service Above Self Scholarship to benefit high school seniors in the East Penn School District. May 5
The Emmaus Garden Club will meet noon at Bethel Bible Fellowship Church, 418 Elm St., Emmaus, for the program titled “Living Sculptures: The Art of Succulents and Cacti” led by Susan Wilson. Learn how to keep succulents thriving with the right balance of light and water, discover the best containers to showcase them, and find out how to prevent and treat common pests. Wilson also will demonstrate how to create arrangements, choose the correct propagation techniques and explore the newest varieties available. All are welcome.
May 8
Grace Lutheran Church, 28 W. Main St., Macungie, will host its Free Community Meal 5-6:30 p.m. The meal will be held in the fellowship hall. You are welcome to come inside to pick up a take-out meal if you choose not to dine in. The menu will be turkey tetrazzini, tossed salad, a roll and butter, and assorted desserts. The Friends of the Lower Macungie Library Spring Book Sale will be held in the Lower Macungie Library, 450 Brookside Road. Donation collection will take place 1-4 p.m. April 25 at the “Friends Shed” in the library parking lot.

The Seed Farm will hold its 12th annual Spring Plant Sale 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 9 and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 10 at the farm, 5854 Vera Cruz Road, Emmaus.
May 13
Grace Lutheran Church, 28 W. Main St., Macungie, will hold a free food distribution 4 p.m. Also May 27. Please note a weekly food cupboard is no longer offered. Recipients must reside in the East Penn School District. Signs will be posted to direct where to park and which door to use to pick up food.
May 18
Zion’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 5901 Kings Highway South, Old Zionsville, will host an organ recital by Rudy Lucente 4 p.m. The performance will celebrate the church’s new organ. Lucente has been a church organist and musician his entire life in the Greater Philadelphia area. He has performed numerous organ recitals throughout the region, including Convention Hall in Atlantic City, N.J. and Longwood Gardens, Kennett Square. He regularly performs on the Wanamaker Organ in center city Philadelphia. There will also be a time to meet Lucente during a coffee and cake reception after the performance.
June 6
The Emmaus Rotary Club presents its Summer Festival 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Emmaus Community Park, 1401 Shimerville Road. Proceeds will benefit the East Penn Food Coalition. Festival highlights are expected to include music performances, activities for kids and food trucks. Admission is free.
The Macungie Ambulance Corps and American Heart Association will present the Healing Hands CPR training event at Macungie Memorial Park, 50 Poplar St., Macungie. Everyone is welcome to come to learn CPR. Registration begins 9 a.m. Other highlights will include food trucks and other vendors.

June 7
The Kiwanis Club of Emmaus welcomes breakfast fans to the club’s 51st annual Pancake Festival 8 a.m. to noon at Emaus Fire Co. #1, Sixth and Broad streets, Emmaus. The menu features sausage and all-you-can-eat pancakes. There is a cost for tickets. Children 8 years and younger eat free. Highlights will include mascot visits and raffles.
June 27
Upper Milford Western District Fire Company will host a chicken barbecue fundraiser. Pickup for dinners is noon to 4 p.m. behind the fire station. Dinner includes one-half a Kauffman’s barbecued chicken, baked potato, applesauce and roll. Dinners will be available until sold out. There is cost for tickets.
