MAMA’S MUSINGS By Lani Goins
This week I paid one summer camp bill, one summer camp deposit and the natural gas bill. That was a lot.
I plan to work this summer. Because, income. So camp for my youngest is a must. One of the games he plays online is named Brain Rot. That is exactly what I don’t want happening to him, so that’s another motivation for camps.
I also signed up for our pool memberships again. My autoimmune disease is not a big fan of sun or water, but my son finds friends at the pool. Sometimes, I even get in the water for a little while.
We will have some work and camp free weeks, which is good. Our washer is not working right. That is not good. The clothes get washed, but I have to wring
them out by hand like its 1889. My older son put the maintenance request in a couple days ago.
We got bumper tapped on the way home yesterday. That was scary, mostly because we were rear-ended a few years ago. We were at a stop sign, and the other lane had right of way. Thankfully, we are OK, and so is my car. Please people, slow down and pay attention. My pedestrian son likes to complain about the bad drivers in our area. But really, it’s not funny.
What will be fun and funny is the Young Playwright’s festival. My youngest and I are both participating this year. For more information about the mid-May performance at Northeast MS, visit touchstone.org
I had to ask my ex to bring my son to some of the rehearsals that occur on “his” day. He grudgingly agreed. I give the guy free hockey tickets, and he still has trouble compromising. Still, the performances are going to be great fun.
Compromise is an art. Doing so with grace is difficult.
