Main Streets leads cleanup
The Catasauqua Main Streets program held its annual borough spring cleanup April 13. Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church Pastor Brian Riedy and Catasauqua Borough Councilwoman and Main Streets leader Kim Brubaker spearheaded the effort.
Originally planned for April 12, the cleanup was rescheduled to the next day due to inclement weather. On the Catasauqua Main Streets Facebook page, the group touted a fantastic turnout with community volunteers and Boy and Girl Scout troops assisting the efforts.
The Main Streets group typically holds two borough cleanup events, one in the spring and the second in autumn.
Main Streets is affiliated with Historic Catasauqua Preservation Association, which grants 501(c)(3) status to the nongovernmental organization. The organization has provided numerous endeavors aimed at beautifying Catasauqua and strengthening community ties with the residents and businesses.
Main Streets’ mission is the “revitalization through art and beautification in the Catasauqua business district. The organized group is dedicated to building the best future for our downtown community and businesses.”
Main Streets also currently teamed up with Riedy and Holy Trinity for a Hearts of Catasauqua program to support the Catasauqua police and fire departments.
