Even though it is now considered an urban legend, the story of George Washington chopping down his father’s cherry tree remains an American tradition.
Moving into the 21st century, that tradition results in the creation of cherry pies in and around Presidents Day.
And one of the best places to find delicious cherry pies was at the Northern Valley EMS headquarters, 2375 Levans Road, Coplay.
Pies are baked by members of the NOVA Auxiliary and made available for hungry pie connoisseurs.
Usually the cherry pies are a sellout, so if next year they are on your list, be sure to order in plenty of time.
NOVA Auxiliary member Charlotte Magee shows just one of the hundreds of delicious cherry pies baked by the auxiliary on Feb. 23 at NOVA Headquarters, 2375 Levans Road, Coplay.
Joan Carter of North Whitehall doesn’t believe in purchasing just one cherry pie. She was picking up her order at NOVA Headquarters, on Feb. 23.
Barry Morrell of Ironton is happy to spend his money purchasing cherry pies from auxiliary members Janet Harris and Betty Foulke.
