A Bethlehem man drowned in a tubing accident Saturday on the Lehigh River.

Chad Mumbauer, 44, of Bethlehem was pronounced dead at 3:20 p.m. by Deputy Coroner Jason Nicholas along the D&L trail and Lehigh River, Parryville Borough.

Mumbauer was involved in a tubing accident on the Lehigh River. Carbon Coroner Mark K. Smith said the cause and manner of death are pending autopsy scheduled for May 27 and will be released thereafter.

At this time, the incident is being investigated as an accident. Smith said Mumbauer was on a family outing.

Along with the Carbon County Coroner’s office the incident is being investigated by Lehighton Police Department.
