Hokendauqua: Township plans swim sessions

Whitehall Township will hold indoor public swim sessions 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesdays through May 15, for Whitehall and Coplay residents only, in the natatorium at Whitehall High School, 3800 Mechanicsville Road. A photo ID proving township or borough residence is required.

No swimming will be held when school is closed for a holiday, teacher in-service or inclement weather.

Children under the age of 10 must be supervised by a parent/guardian. In addition, any child in need of a flotation device must be accompanied by a parent/guardian in the pool.

The annual fishing derby will be May 25 at Hokendauqua Park and Playground, 3417 Lehigh St. Registration will be 8-8:45 a.m., and the contest runs 9 a.m.-noon. More than 150 trout will be stocked.

This event, sponsored by the township recreation bureau, is free, but you must bring your own bait and tackle.

The contest is open to children ages 15 and younger. There will be awards.

Hokendauqua Park and Playground Association will provide refreshments.

The township will be hosting an electronics recycling and document shredding day 9 a.m.-1 p.m. June 29 at the township complex, 3219 MacArthur Road. This event is for Whitehall Township residents only.

You must stay in your vehicle. There is a limit of 10 boxes for document shredding. You must have the exact funds or a check prepared if dropping off any items that include a fee. Make checks payable to Responsible Recycling Services.
