Disney On Ice features area talent

As the character Belle from “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast,” Leocadia Lellig skated into Allentown’s PPL Center with her fellow cast members for “Disney On Ice Presents Mickey’s Search Party.”

The family-friendly production ran Jan. 18-21.

Local media was invited to photograph and interview the talented athletes during their warm-up session on the indoor rink prior to their Thursday night performance.

While others in the cast and crew hail from around America and from around the world, Lellig’s hometown is Reading.

Ice skating from age 4, Lellig feels at home on the ice, no matter where Disney’s troupe of traveling entertainers takes her.

Allentown is one of more than 30 stops scheduled for this season which started in September 2023 and ends in May.

Upon graduating from Exeter High School in 2018, Lellig immediately scored her dream job of performance skating with Disney On Ice, produced by Feld Entertainment®.

Her brother and cousins skate for fun, but she is the only one in the family skating professionally.

There is a main thread that ties all the Disney characters’ stories together.

“Tinker Bell gets captured by Captain Hook’s pirates,” says the 24-year-old. “This takes away all of our magic.”

Led by Mickey, they follow the clues to where she is being held.

“I love skating,” says Lellig. “I love performing, sharing what I love to do with lots and lots of people, and bringing a lot of happiness to families and kids.”

When she is not out on the road strapping on her skates and getting paid to dress up as her favorite Disney characters, Lellig spends quality time with the folks back home in Pennsylvania.

With a blue spotlight highlighting her, Reading-raised Leocadia Lellig returns to Pennsylvania for “Disney On Ice Presents Mickey's Search Party.” The 24-year-old and fellow cast members warm up ahead of their Jan. 18 evening performance at Allentown's PPL Center.
